About Ernest Ng
Biography
Dr. Ernest C. H. NG is an expert in applying wisdom tradition and spirituality into contemporary decision-making.
He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Master of Arts in International Relations. He received a Master of Buddhist Studies and Doctor of Philosophy from the Center of Buddhist Studies, HKU. He was a Sir Edward You Scholar and a Fellow at the European SPES Institute. Ernest is the author of a Chinese book entitled “Leveraging Happiness” which showcases the enormous potential of responsible leaders managing to conduct business with social purposes. His recent publication, Introduction to Buddhist Economics in the Palgrave Studies Series serves as a pioneering effort to systemically introduce Buddhist Economics.
He is committed to the development of the young generation and future leaders, serving as a mentor for various universities and advisor to organizations such as the Sustainable Finance Initiative in Hong Kong.

He is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) where he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses on Buddhism and Economics. His core research and knowledge transfer interests are in the intersection of spirituality and materiality. Dr. Ng lectures around the world on topics relating to sustainable decision-making, management, and Buddhist teachings.
He has an interdisciplinary background as the Chief Executive Officer of a Buddhist NGO and a Buddhist scholar but served previously as the Chief Investment Officer at an asset management company and as the Vice President of Morgan Stanley Asia.
With over 15 years of experience in the financial markets, Dr. Ng has developed keen interests in the research, education, and coaching of integrating wisdom tradition and market economy. He is particularly experienced in stakeholder communication, sustainable transformation, and change management strategy at the individual and organizational levels.
